Nutmeg
Nutmeg is a 2 ½ year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross, who arrived at a rescue cCentre as a stray on 4th January 2009.

She is fit and healthy and although she hasn’t shown any aggression to staff or members of the public she has started to demonstrated ‘grabbing’ behaviour through frustration within this environment. She is undoubtedly mouthing hard and the trigger seems to be purely to get out attention/reaction. So far she hasn’t been doing this whilst in her kennel but when out on exercise. She is lead only to allow sufficient control and receives plenty of exercise together with inanimate objects such as toys, filled kongs to help relieve stress.
We have recently had to move her from one kennel block to another as the member of staff who has cared for her full time has lost confidence and was very upset last week when Nutmeg grabbed her arm hard and bruised her. For safety we naturally double up with staff but today she has bitten our external volunteer behaviourist who has been working with her. The behaviourist accepts it was hard but also states that there was no aggression but more a learned behaviour.
She is OTT with other dogs and would need to be an only pet and clearly for safety an adult, experienced home only.
I would not wish to put anyone in a position of danger or harm but based on our behaviourist assessment and that of staff we do know this is bourne out of frustration etc.
Nutmeg is not being re-homed through Staffies In Need, and as such may not be neutered, vaccinated or micro-chipped.
