Who we are and what we do
Staffies In Need UK is a non profit organisation dedicated to the rescue, short term fostering and long-term re-homing of Staffordshire Bull Terriers (both pure-breeds and crosses). Set-up by Staffordshire Bull Terrier lovers and owners to help ease the crisis the breed is currently facing. Along with the rescue and re-homing of dogs in need, we want to promote a true understanding of the breed, it’s behaviour and requirements.
Unwanted Staffies of all ages and sizes are found new homes through its placement scheme, which carefully matches up rescued dogs with their potential new owners. Wherever possible, owners are provided with any support and guidance they may need.
The rescue is run by a dedicated group of volunteers with a love of Staffies, giving their time and devotion to the welfare of this wonderful breed. We do not have or use kennels, as we believe fostering is a better option for the dogs. This helps them adjust to normal everyday life and gives them the one on one attention they deserve.
Dogs come to us for various reasons. Some are part of cruelty cases, but there are also less obvious causes for the need to re-home a dog, such as relationship breakdowns, changing work commitments, having to move to accommodation unsuitable for dogs, the owner passing away or family members developing an allergy to dogs. Whatever the reason that leads to a dog coming into our care, we try to establish a successful outcome for both the dog and its new owners. All dogs are assessed by an experienced volunteer before placing with a new owner.
Our hope is that through the use of this website we will be able to further raise awareness of the plight of unwanted Staffies, reaching a wide audience and explain a little of what we do and how we work. Staffies In Need UK has very limited resources, but part of what we do is to promote responsible dog ownership. With this in mind, all dogs that are re-homed by us will be neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped.
